Do you have plans for Labor Day weekend? I don’t, but I will be soaking up the unstructured free time. Tuesday, however, I leave for a brief and spontaneous trip to another country! I’m not giving away any clues just yet, but follow me on Instagram to find out what I’m up to!
This summer has proven to be really busy but not so much on the traveling front! Doug and I took a two-day trip to Palm Springs, and I have a post coming up from our trip that I’ve been working on for weeks (battling writers’ block!) … hopefully I can get that published soon! Other than that I haven’t traveled anywhere! Looking forward to breaking that dry spell.
However, I have taken time to enjoy my home city of San Diego! In East Village I’ve treated myself to artisan tacos at Michelin Bib Gourmand awardee Lola 55 and a charcuterie platter at newly opened J & Tony’s. To celebrate our anniversary, Doug and I visited another Bib Gourmand restaurant, the super-fancy Juniper & Ivy, in Little Italy. Rounding out the local Gastro scene, we crossed south of the border to have brunch at Estacion Central which just won an award as well. Can’t really complain when you’re eating this good!
The second half of this post is chock full of affiliate links. I hope you discover a new brand you didn’t know about before! Thanks for supporting the endeavors that allow me to produce The Voyageer.
I don’t often do these kinds of posts, but I just began a couple fun new brand partnerships I wanted to let you know about: Knockaround sunglasses, which are based here in my hometown of San Diego, CA! The other one is Pela Case, makers of the world’s best biodegradable phone case. Keep your eye out for sidebar ads from these cool companies in the future.
Both of these items protect how we see the world as we travel: our eyes from the sun’s strong rays and your phone, I mean your most frequently used camera! (There! I did it—I tied it in with the blog’s theme).
Ever think about how much plastic is in our world, even including things we touch every day like our cell phone accessories? These ingenious Pela Case phone cases have a pleasing texture and are made from natural fibers. Toss it in the compost bin when you get a new phone! They make cases that fit Apple, Samsung, and Google Pixel. This weekend, take 25% off everything!
Just because summer is ending doesn’t mean the sun stops shining. Prepare yourself for end-of-season hiking, tailgating, and other fall outdoor activities. I just discovered this brand, Knockaround, which is based in Downtown San Diego. I can’t buy any of their super affordable shades (25% off everything this weekend) because I need prescription lenses, but maybe you can! (I recently checked out some prescription shades at Warby Parker, actually).
Let’s see… what else can I throw in? Pura Vida, based out of San Diego (La Jolla technically) is also having a Labor Day sale. They make adorable bracelets in a ton of color schemes and themes. They’ve also got the cutest rings including the SoCal favorite wave ring. Free shipping on all orders this weekend!!
What are your Labor Day plans? What did you do this summer? I would love to hear about it. Let me know in the comments!
