Tis the Season to Book 2023 Travel!

Approximately a 4 minute read

Here we are, in that curious week between Christmas and New Year. For me, the past three days have consisted of relaxing at my parents’ home in the suburbs, snoozing on the couch, and helping them plan their Summer 2023 travel to the British Isles. I’m jealous! (Although I do have a trip planned for March, so I can’t be too jealous). I wanted to let you readers know something I discovered during this process… If you’re planning to travel, it might be worth booking something already if you want to get the best hotels!

While I helped them compare hotel options and firm up their itinerary, a couple of things jumped out to me. First (as of this writing), the dollar-to-pound exchange rate favors the US (1:1.2 compared to last time I visited the UK which was closer to 1:2). Thanks to this, they were able to lock in some better locations than they would in a weak-dollar economy! Second, people are really eager to book hotels. Many of the budget-friendly hotels I helped them look at had dwindling availability, and a couple of them increased prices within the 3 days we were doing our research. And this is for a trip in July! What a surprise; I’m glad we did the legwork now to save stress and money later.

Make your Daydream a Reality

Idle time like this liminal week between Christmas and NYE is so valuable to me. When I do have this rare time to daydream, I like to pull up Kayak Explore or Secret Flying to see what destinations have deals. Riga (Latvia) was never on my radar, but if it’s on a cheap round-trip flight… maybe I should go?

If you want some more destination inspiration, Lonely Planet’s annual roundup of hot destinations will surely get your wheels turning. Check it out here. It’s always fun and thrilling to see the spaces that travel industry pros are excited about. I am happy to see one of my 2023 travel destinations on their “Eat” list! I’ll share which one in a future post!

Grab Your Opportunity

Did you visit any of the above links, or maybe open them in a new tab? Perhaps something will call out to you and spark a trip you hadn’t even dreamed of yet. This isn’t explicitly a sponsored post, but Booking.com is running a 15% off sale on certain hotels for travel during the first three months of the year (check out by/on the last day of March). If you’re privileged to have a few days off this week, I recommend dreaming up some 2023 travel and going ahead and booking some travel for the beginning part of the year!

If this post inspired you to dream up a trip, leave a comment where you’d love to go in 2023!

  1. The Baltics are looking very interesting to us as well, very beautiful and very cheap … but we have too much planned for 2023 … we’re hoping for London, Warsaw … and Uzbekistan! The latter is a destination we’ve dreamed of for years.
All the best from Strasbourg, France
