Mitsui Garden Hotel Roppongi, Tokyo, Japan: Review
Roppongi, in the southwestern part of Tokyo, is a stylish upscale neighborhood in walking distance to Tokyo Tower. Roppongi also has quite a dual personality: there are museums, luxurious shopping centers, huge global companies have their offices here, and… the nightlife is famously raucous. Mitsui Garden Hotel Roppongi Premier leans more towards the former—it is beautiful, classy, quiet, and in a convenient location.

I think it’s safe to say that I’ve reached a point in my life where, during a vacation where I know I am going to be logging 25,000 steps in a day, I want to stay somewhere very comfortable so I can get re-energized for the next day. With that in mind, when I went to book my Tokyo hotels, I decided to pick a mix of luxury and above-average hotels, skipping funny capsule hotels or ultracheap love hotels. This was one of the best!

Mitsui Garden Hotel Roppongi Room Review

The room’s decor features thoughtful textural design, including wallpaper, textural fabric, opulent wood panels, and mixed metal finishes. Wooden pocket doors create privacy and space separation. Spacious by Tokyo standards, the room includes a king-sized bed, loveseat, and desk that can be moved a bit to function as a dining table. The room has a refrigerator, ice bucket, kettle, and blackout curtains.
The bathroom is large and luxurious. The soaker tub and shower are arranged like a wet room (see below). The toilet is in its own separate water closet. The vessel sink helps keep the countertop dry; the countertop has room for items and storage underneath for the hotel-provided toiletries and hair dryer. Like most of the hotels in Japan, Matsui Garden Hotel includes soft and comfy pajamas with the room!

Mitsui Garden Hotel Roppongi Amenities
Hotel entry is on the ground floor, you will enter into a lobby with floor-to-ceiling glass windows and ikebana flower arrangements. The staff is very friendly and attentive and speak many languages. They will hold your luggage for you if it’s delivered by a service like Yamato or if you arrive before check-in. In fact, when we checked in, our luggage was waiting for us in our room. In the beautiful lobby there are a variety of places to pause while arriving or departing, couches and chairs. However, I don’t consider the common area a “lounge” and can become crowded if there is a large group lingering around.

Their top-floor restaurant, Balcon, is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast can be arranged from the front desk for ¥3,300 per adult. We did not have breakfast here, but we totally should have made it a point to try their healthy gourmet fare.
The premises also include a fitness center, self-serve laundry, and smoking lounges.

We loved this quiet and upscale location. Use the tool to search options at lots of price points in Roppongi:
Here are three other hotels I have stayed at in Tokyo:
- APA Roppongi Ekihigashi – A very short walk from Mitsui Garden Hotel, a budget-friendly option.
- Hotel K5 – A luxurious boutique hotel, definitely one of my all-time favorites
- BnA Wall Art Hotel – Artsy and vibey, a very cool and inspiring space
