Hot Hotels in Mexico City

Mexico City is a fabulous vacation destination. The dollar goes a long way there, the public transit is easy to navigate, and everyone I came into contact with was so friendly. There are affordable flights from lots of US origin cities, especially in the southwest. Flying out of Tijuana is easy and accessible for my fellow San Diegans. I’ve already covered suggestions for what to do on your first trip there, and here I’ve rounded up the cream of the crop for hotels in Mexico City. I love using Booking.com because they have a pay later option – I like to keep my travels flexible.

Reforma

Reforma is the name of the wide avenue that threads through Mexico City’s metropolitan center. It features skyrises and the iconic Angel de la Independencia. The hotels I’ve chosen are about 2km northeast from El Angel, near the Palacio de Bellas Artes and nestled among too many museums to count.

  • Hilton Mexico City Reforma – So close to the gorgeous Palacio de Bellas Artes, one of Mexico City’s most famous attractions.
  • Barcelo Mexico Reforma – Across Ave. Reforma from the Hilton above; great central location to explore the city.
  • Umbral, Curio Collection – Just one block from the historic Zócalo square. Top location in Mexico City – near the Palacio Nacional, Catedral Metropolitana and Templo Mayor ruins.

La Condesa/Hipodromo

La Condesa is the most popular neighborhood for lodging in the city center. It is bohemian and feels hipstery. The neighborhood was named after a countess and stylish vintage buildings can be found around every corner.

  • Casa Decu – chic minimalism, inspired by Scandinavian design infused with Mexican style.
  • Hotel Villa Condesa – lush garden-like setting and artistic touches around every corner.
  • AR 218 Hotel – Boutique-style rooms with various outdoor patios to lounge in the sun.

Polanco

Polanco, just north of Bosque de Chapultepec, is sometimes referred to as the “Beverly Hills of Mexico” due to its top-level brands, awe-inspiring art museums (1, 2) and luxurious homes and hotels. Here are a couple of lodging options:

  • Pug Seal Tennyson – Dreamy, playful, showstopping interiors that look like they come from a movie. The Pug Seal group has other stylish options in Polanco as well.
  • Hyatt Regency – Rooms ranging from basic to palatial, and expertly designed common areas perfect for meeting a friend for a bite at one of its 3 restaurants.
